My ceramic works connect the contemporary to the ancient through the material used and the forms created.
The exploration and reinterpretation of form invites the viewer into a contemplative dialogue with history, and hopefully an appreciation of ancient pottery.
Manipulating the clay using using hand-building techniques to transform it and knowing that an ancient piece was formed in the same way is immensely satisfying .
My inspiration is drawn from ancient Greek, Persian and Roman pottery, and my work is an homage to these civilisations and how they have shaped the course of history.
I was a finalist in the 2024 North Queensland Ceramics Award in Townsville.
